K. Minamoto, which now has a location at 604 5th Avenue near Rockefeller Center, is a master of Wagashi, traditional edible arts from Japan. At K. Minamoto you might find seasonal fruits like cherries served in clear jelly, or grapes encased in soft rice cake and dusted with sugar, or if you are lucky a gold fish swimming in your dessert, called Kingyo.
Other signature treats include an assortment of mochi in flavors like cherry, peach and macha; whole peaches covered in peach jelly, Fukuwatashi Senbei, "zigzag"cookies pressed around a layer of vanilla cream; Baumkuchen known as a “tree cake” with its signature rings; Kasutera, a Japanese sponge cake offered in a variety of flavors; Moon Cakes and more.

Upon entering the Rockefeller Center location, you get the feel that you’ve just entered a swanky jewelry store with glass display cases where the desserts are the jewels. They truly are masters. All of the desserts are produced in a factory in Japan and shipped around the world.
