Upscale Tasting Counter Arrives at Maison Sun in Boerum Hill

Maison Sun is offering a unique dining concept in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Visitors gather around a sleek stainless steel counter facing an open kitchen where they can enjoy a tasting menu from a chef with 15 years of fine dining experience. The centerpiece is a vintage Molteni stove.

Maison Sun is the brainchild of Carlos Gasperi, a doctor turned restaurateur and sommelier. Leading the kitchen is Executive Chef Michael Brogan, who has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants such as The Fat Duck in London, The Greenhouse in Dublin, as well as Jean-Georges and The Modern in New York.

The seasonal menu, priced at $198 per person, starts with a Tangelo Foie Tartlet. As the meal progresses diners are offered an array of dishes including Tasmanian Sea Urchin with Dashi Kohlrabi, and Samphire; Dry Aged Ribeye Tartare with Kaluga Caviar, Boquerón Aioli, and Soy Cured Egg; Lobster Gazpacho with Lobster Bacon; and 14-Day Dry Aged Rohan Duck with Salt Baked Celery Root, Oolong Tea Rub and Madeira Foie Duck Jus. An A5 Kagawa Sanuki Wagyu Striploin with Artichokes, and Peppercorn Sauce is available for an additional $185 Supplement.

For dessert there is Liquid Nitrogen Alfonso Mango Sorbet and Coconut Semifreddo with Amaretto and Burnt Lime. Maison Sun's wine program focuses on Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Tokaj.
