Anthropologie - Soho
Neighborhood: SoHo
Type of Place: Women's Clothing
Description:
Chic, up-to-the moment clothes for stylish girly-girl types. Lots of people get the catalogs, but the stores offer 9 or 10 times more inventory. Besides all of the clothes, great selections of bedding, housewares, jewelry, and lingerie make this shop one that it’s hard to walk in and spend only a few minutes in. The clothes echo whatever the latest styles are, usually with a French-bohemian sort of flair (this season, there are lots of peasant skirts and gauzy, Indian-inspired tops), and the clothes are full of lots of great details, like embroidery, ribbons, or beading. Beware, though – these elegant touches don’t come cheap – tops can often cost in the sixty dollar range, and skirts are usually well over a hundred dollars. Need to treat yourself, or buy a gift for of someone? There’s lots of great lotions, soaps, and accessories galore. Sales racks in the back or downstairs of the store are often full of great mark-downs; but don’t try to come sort through the markdown racks on your lunch hour, or you’ll be immensely frustrated – dozens of women will have gotten there first, making it impossible to see or get to anything. –Molly, Summer 2005
