Description:

Quite possibly the smallest indie boutique in the Big Apple - I am referring to the SoHo spot, however the shop's got two other locations in Brooklyn, too - In God We Trust is brimming (remarkably tidily) with fashion pieces for men and women including clothing, shoes and accessories. The prices are fairly high, but so if you don’t go too crazy, you can walk out with an armload of goods that won’t rack up the hugest tab. The staff is charming, supportive and at your beck and call, but leave you with enough breathing room to sort through their inventory at your leisure which is a total turn on for me.

Let’s talk stock. I'll start with my latest favorite - their Foxy Lady jumpsuit. I am a sucker for rompers and jumpsuits, and be still my beating heart, this silk broadcloth number has me head over heels. It dons a fitted waistband, pleats in all the right places, and of course a sly fox pattern that makes it extraordinarily unique. The jumpsuit is $470, so I probably won’t be able to make the purchase unless Santa’s got me on his good list this year, but it is certainly a piece indicative of IGWT’s line, and worth at least having a look at or a try-on.

Another big-ticket but lovable item I saw the last time I was there was a silk chiffon Georgia Dress ($380). The dress sports mens’ shirting details with a full-button front that adds the perfect touch of femininity. It’s one of those pieces you can dress up or down, making it a perfect purchase for upcoming holiday parties or just another day at the office.Less expensive unisex clothing like twill pants, wool vests, cotton button-down shirts and super badass jeans will run you anywhere from the $80’s to somewhere a bit over $100.

For more affordable inventory, check out IGWT’s accessory line. Jewelry-wise, you can drop hundreds, but to me by far the best in the shop’s Sweet Nothing Brass necklaces ($40 - $50): brass hearts on plated chains hand-engraved with sayings from the sweetest to the raunchiest ever from “Bless This Mess”, “Crazy Sexy Cool” and “Taken” to more risqué sentiments like “Hot mess”, “Let’s Make Out” and others way to racy to list here.

In God We Trust’s accessory line includes hats, gloves, scarves and other seasonal garb, wallets, handbags, shoelaces and more; and you’ll find apothecary merchandise, too, like candles (check out their Meow Meow Soy Candles for $14 each – I bought two, Geranium Basil and Cedar Fig and their scents last forever), soap, perfumes and more.

You can trust that the excellent quality of God’s goods make up for the somewhat exorbitant prices here. Even for only browsers, unearthing so many gems in such a tiny space makes In God We Trust a New York must.
