Description:
Jacob Riis Park Beach (Riis Park to native New Yorkers) is one of the city's most popular beaches. The white sand and blue seas offer a somewhat relaxing alternative to the crowds at Coney. But things can still get a bit noisy. The eastern end is a hot spot for gay New Yorkers, while families tend to stay toward the west end.

Entering the beach is free, but you'll have to pay $5 for parking ($40 for a season pass). There is no direct route by train, although you can take the No. 2 train to Flatbush Ave and transfer to the Q35 bus.

Riis Park is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area. It's open weekdays from 9am-6pm and on weekends from 9am-7pm.
