Walking past Kid Robot I was immediately drawn in. In fact you'll find more adults than children milling about this SoHo shop. And while the toys may seem childish, some may be too adult for young children.
They come with names like Eggdrop Ajaja, Gorillaz, Smorkin Labbit and Skumbo Red Cutty. Prices for these limited edition toys, some created by hip-hop artists, can cost anywhere from a few dollars to more than a hundred. We're told some of the rarer toys can go for several hundred dollars in places like ebay, and that the line outside the shop can run around the block when new collections arrive. Yes, Kid Robot has quite a following.
But be forewarned, many of the items are purchased blindly, meaning you may not know what type of figure will pop out of the box. And in my case, the toy I purchased for my 5-year-old son turned out to be a dominatrix. Whip not included.
