Le Sabon
Neighborhood: East 60s
Type of Place: Bath & Body
Description:
Le Sabon, take me away!
This new Lexington Avenue oasis screams tranquility.
Owner and founder, Sara Kety-Elias, created the shop's bath and body products with one thing in mind: The woman who has everything but time. Her goal was to create a resource for women to take at "least" 10 minutes from each day to love themselves. The love, in this case, just happens to come in candy colored bottles.
Le Sabon carries bath milks ($18), body polishes ($32), and moisturizer so creamy it's called a soufflé ($22). All products are made with minerals straight from the Dead Sea. Glycerin soaps line the shelves as you walk in the store. They come in dozens of flavors including Grapefruit, Apple/Peach, Lemon/Grapefruit, Midnight Blue, Carnival, and Cream Horizon. Each bar is cut about an inch thick and runs $6.50. Other luxuries include creamy massage bars, soy candles ($8-$25), teas, and soap-filled loofahs ($10) (something crafty folks haven't seen since Woodstock).
I couldn't help walking away with a jar of the Lemongrass body scrub, a Passion Fruit soap-filled loofah and some tea to end my evening the way it should end - with ten minutes
of bliss. Ahhh!
