Description:
On my way from a gathering to celebrate the development of an all-documentary movie theater in downtown Manhattan at DCTV (pretty great!), I came across lovely outfits in the windows at Lilith and decided to take a look.
What I saw from outside was that the fabrics and colors had an unexpected and bohemian flair. I learned inside that the Lilith line began in Nancy, France 20 years ago; that this shop opened in 2002; that the line is sweatshop-free in its creation; and that indeed a creative, free-spirited feel is part of the goal of the designs.
Prices here may be subject to change as end-of-season sales begin, but I loved an adorable red pin-striped sleeveless blouse with front pleats and adjustable shoulder straps ($160); a raspberry shift dress ($126—and I learned later that it's actually recommended as a slip, but it absolutely could be worn on its own as a dress); an apple green and ivory dress with brown and navy stripes and a buttoned sash (a great example of the lovely use of colors here; $185); a mauve gauze blouse with embroidered lace at the neck ($267); and a charming cobalt short-sleeve blouse with camel polka dots ($130).
Duck in here when you're yearning for some French flair—and/or for an outfit to wear on a date to the documentary theater, which will be opening nearby next year.
