Description:
It turns out floral could be worn hours after sunset. That is what I learned from Little Joe by Gail Elliott. For the first time ever, New Yorkers were able to view the Australian-based brand in the flesh. The trunk show welcomed shoppers with bubbly before browsing the parallel racks of her 2008 Roses Collection.

In the dead cold of February, nothing is more rejuvenating than rebuilding a wardrobe for those seasons that do not require layers. Only nature could inspire a unique Spring/Summer line. Blushing Beauty, Queen of the Night, Gypsy Girl, Rosa Camille...all left impressions upon flowing silk dresses. The most noticeable was the Lilium, a long silk wrap dress, the hem finished with a soft ruffle. It came in dark wheat brown or a dusky blue. A woman could spend a day in the Hamptons, and then catch the Jitney in time for late-night cocktails in Chelsea – all in this same dress ($690). She must, of course, change shoes. Gail Elliott, a former model who non-stop traveled, developed Little Joe for the jet-setting woman, be it across the Atlantic or the island of New York. Classy and comfortable for travel, yet chic and sexy enough to rule an evening. The Lilium was also available in solid black ($810).

A dress did not need patterns of inflorescence to catch my attention. The solid pink silk chiffon dress Elliott called The Zinnia, I called the pink parasol converted to a sensual evening dress ($470). The fitted dress also had one underplayed ruffle running along the top hem across the chest and three running down for a little extra decor. Spaghetti straps held up the blushing pink piece which also came in off-white and black.

How do you take merino wool and turn it into a sexy sweater? Knit it into a long lean cardigan that plunges ($280). Add two front pocket patches and wooden buttons for the sake of detail. Wear The Landini cardigan with jeans and a camisole underneath and it is perfect for brunch with his family. On another day, ditch the camisole and wear it solely with shorts – and leave him mesmerized.
