Just off the Bowery and tucked quaintly on Bond Street, lies Oak, the laid back yet high fashion apparel store featuring top downtown designer brands. Be sure to don your best laid back hipster vibe as you enter Oak, and browse their cool collection of dark colored merchandise with a carefree attitude. The muted tones of this two floor establishment sets the mood and becomes telling of what sort of shopping experience you are in for.
The majority of Oak is occupied by their self-titled collection. Do not pass up the opportunity to browse their stunning and affordable pieces before you skip to designer brands, for Oak’s Avant-garde flare and asymmetrical cuts are well worth a try on or two. At full price, a cotton dress will run you around $125 while a blouse will cost $70.
Do note that Oak is well known by downtown fashionistas for their semi-annual “30/40/50 Sale.” During this three-week sale, prices will start with a markdown of 30% off original retail prices and work their way up to 50% off original prices as the weeks pass. The best part about this sale is every single item within the store is on sale, aside from fragrances.
Apart from the Oak Collection, Alexander Wang and T by Alexander Wang are the main designer lines featured. Prices remain the same as other stores, but during the 30/40/50 Sales, the numbers stamped upon the lusted after Alexander Wang merchandise become too slight to pass up.
Other designers to check out are Acne, A.OK, Macha, Jeffrey Campbell, Harmon and Cheap Monday, who offer extremely low priced denim.
In the Downstairs area of Oak, a more casual selection for Men and Women lives. Sweatshirts, tees, and denim are all available, as well as additional dressing rooms.
With the relaxed and non-pressured vibe of Oak, after a shopping experience it is certain you will leave feeling more tranquil than you were when you walked in.
