Description:

If you’re sick of brands like H&M and Forever 21 like me, you are not alone.  Likewise, if you don’t have your mommy and daddy’s trust fund to blow (like me as well), you will be satisfied with Pixie. I have to confess, I first visited this store on account of its cute, coquettish name, but I was delightfully surprised to find out that this very small but way more endearing boutique does in fact live up to its name.

How good does it feel when you instantly know an article of clothing is right for you both size- and price- wise? Well, that’s happened on a number of occasions for me at The Pixie. For instance, I pretty much abhor the prospect of shopping for jeans. My petite figure makes it daunting to find a pair that is stylish and fit to a T, but I managed to snag a pair of perfectly-fitted (black denims for only $40 (down from $100) as well as a trendy tunic with an Indian print and an aquamarine flowy dress  - together for less than $250. Score! (I also eyed a jumper for only $75 – and, I don’t know about you, but finding a jumper that does not make you look ridiculous or break your bank is so not easy).

A lot of my girlfriends cringe at the idea of shopping at Pixie because of their limited inventory, but I chalk that up to impatience and a need for instant gratitude. If you have the patience and know-how when it comes to weeding out awesome picks in a less-than-huge collection of clothing, then The Pixie Market is the place to go. Another turn-off for some may be the not-so-spacious fitting rooms, but c'mon now, these are sacrifices we must make in order to look our best…right ladies?!

Most items will run you from $100 to $200 which may seem a little steep, but I promise you won’t find an inventory as versatile and unique as you will at The Pixie Market. And keep in mind – although these are average Pixie prices, you will not have difficulty finding cutting-edge dresses and other garb for less. And you’ll find more than dresses here – including ultra-cute footwear and totes, tops and accessories like bags, belts and more that are totally feasible for even the most starving of NYC artists.
