Saint Ignatius of Antioch
Neighborhood: Upper West Side
Type of Place: Churches
Description:
Saint Ignatius of Antioch is an Episcopal parish church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We are one of the over two hundred congregations that make up the Episcopal Diocese of New York, the local presence—in three New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx) and seven counties north of New York City: Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester—of the Episcopal Church U.S.A. and of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Saint Ignatius is distinctive in its rich heritage of catholic liturgy and its openness to all those who come through our doors. We believe that our worship of God, especially in the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, strengthens us to care for the needy within and outside the parish, to grow in knowledge, faith, and wisdom, and to show forth the loving presence of God in Christ in the world. We hope that you will explore our web site. We hope that you might then come to Saint Ignatius to participate in one of our ministries or educational programs, or to hear some beautiful music. We especially hope that you and your family might come and worship with us. The more and different people, gathering from diverse and divergent backgrounds and opinions, who meet up to break the bread and share the cup, the more hope we have that we will be reconciled in God and changed into something we can not yet imagine.
