Description:

Opened in September 2011 and named for classic actress Delphine Seyrig, this beautifully stocked shop, the vision of designer Ben Ruhland, is loaded with breezy, understated chic. Its wares come from Denmark, France, Italy, Peru, Scotland, Sweden, and good old New York; and though the offerings are certainly on-trend, the men and women who take these pieces home won't see them cropping up on everyone else.

I loved a black-and-white horizontal-striped short sleeve women's t-shirt in dreamily soft cotton, $53, from 18 Waits; a charcoal women's cardigan in delicate pointelle, $165, from the Seyrig line; a lightweight wool shawl in shades of dark and light grey, $105; a long-sleeve unisex cotton t-shirt in heavier cotton from Small Trade (made in New York), $70; a men's lightweight alpaca wool sweater in navy, on sale for $90; a beautiful sleeveless tunic in linen, with a striped collar and elegant front detail (was $225, now 40% off); a sundress from Eka in cobalt with a subtle white print, perfect for a party at the lake, beach, or pool, $155; and a women's lightweight sweater in a deep cranberry alpaca (was $225, now 60% off).

The store is on the small side and was crowded with motivated shoppers, so I left in order not to interfere—but I look forward to returning as a shopper myself for these distinctive, charming, very wearable items. Here's to the spring and summer occasions!
