“Soho's living room” can be found on the second floor of the Soho Grand Hotel, one of the chicest places to be in downtown New York. Its moniker is suitable: the comfy couches make for the perfect place to start or end an evening, while the fanciful décor – a giant cage houses a bird, under the vaulted ceilings and columns – distinguishes the Soho Grand from other bars and lounges of its kind, not to mention the perfectly coiffed, dressed and shod waitresses, in the height of hip downtown fashion. The lounge is famous for its drinks: the Dirty Soho (17) is a dirty martini with a touch of lemon; the Ginger Mojito (15) adds the spice of ginger to a classic rum-based drink, here made with Don Q Cristal White Rum. The Grand Bellini (14) with white peach and blood orange purée is a new take on the classic Venitian cocktail. You'll also find an assortment of classic bar food, dolled up for the setting: the mini crab cakes with spiced aoli (15) are delicious; the foie gras terrine (14) perfectly decadent. For those looking for something a bit bigger, the Soho Grand Burger (17) or Grand Mac & Cheese (16) will fill you up and stave off a hangover. The Soho Grand is the place to be and to be seen with the downtown New York society; stop by at the end of a night out for a last drink before heading home, or book the space to host a private event in style.
