The South Street Seaport is located on the southern tip of the island of Manhattan and is a designated historic district of New York. The South Street Seaport Museum was founded in 1967 and after a renovation in 1982 would lead to the area that we know and recognize today. While Hurricane Sandy shut down many of the businesses and attractions due to the damage, there are still a lot of desirable things to see at the Seaport. The Seaport now features Smorgasbar, a collection of food vendors from Blue Marble Ice Cream, Brooklyn Oyster Party, Magnolia Bakery and Red Hook Lobster Pound. The Seaport also features shops such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Superdry. That along with stunning views from Pier 17 on the East River makes the Seaport a true New York City tourist attraction. The Seaport can be accessed by the subway via the 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, J and Z trains.
