Cititour Review:

Known for its fabulous brunch menu, Anella is an excellent alternative to the nearby Greenpoint Coffee House, which was recently closed.  Housed just a block from the once-beloved Mecca for hip brunchers on Franklin Ave. and Green St., Anella offers an excellent array of hearty options, with excellent service to boot.  All of the servers are very fast, friendly and knowledgeable, and really go the extra mile to make your meal a great experience.  I would become a regular there just for the consistent, classy service with a smile.

While the prices are a bit higher than your run-of-the-mill brunch at a diner, ($8-$9 for first course, $11-$13 for entrees,) the portions, flavors and homey atmosphere all make it well worth the extra few dollars.  The famous Ricotta Frittatta, or any of the omelet options will fill you up—no need for sides or starters.  The same goes for the Anella Burger, which comes with a mountain of crispy fries.  Make sure to try one of the delicious morning beverages—either the Grapefruit Basil Spritzer or the Bloody Mary.  If you’re into seafood, Anella’s Steamed Mussels (on the dinner menu) are bound to become a staple in your diet.

You’ll be charmed by the old-fashioned aura brought on by the distressed walls, wooden booths and tin ceilings.  During the warm months, enjoy the outdoor dining area where the chef grows fresh herbs in a lovely, well-designed potager garden.

Anella is cash only, so come prepared.
