Artichoke in the East Village is drawing rave reviews, with some foodies comparing it the Di Fara's in Brooklyn. While Di Fara's may win with it's traditional cheese slice, owners Francis Garcia and Sal Basille have a winner of their own. Their artichoke and spinach pizza, with its crunchy crust and just the right amount of char, is smothered with fresh artichoke and cheese as it emerges bubbling from the oven. At three bucks a slice it could easily serve as a meal, and it has folks lining up out the door. You'll also want to take home one of their stuffed artichokes. They are simply scrumptious.
