Cititour Review:
In many respects, hanging out at the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club is better than going to the actual beach. The food and drinks are far superior, there is better recreation (if swimming wasn’t among your planned activities) and an unpleasant sunscreen aroma will likely never overwhelm you. But the experience is similar to a fun day at the beach, perhaps with a heightened civility, though just as laid-back. At the Beekman, the sun was hot, the crowd was chill, and most people were laughing and interacting.
That connectedness, inspired by good music (decent DJs, a free indie rock series on Sundays, and the classic funk sounds of George Clinton and Parliament), a good variety of craft brews on tap, and German-inspired grub like bratwurst on pretzel buns, translates into a guaranteed good time.
Take off your sandals and walk among partygoers on soft sand, or casually lie under the stars on a hammock. You can do that and more, like challenging someone to a game of ping-pong, pool, or foosball, or just mingling and dancing your way through Beekman’s 22,000-square feet of indoor/outdoor space.
Although you’d expect it to be just the type of place that might quickly go from amazingly relaxing to keep-the-volleyball-out-of-my-drink, an attentive staff and several security guards are on hand to keep the fun in check. To their credit, the guards were practically invisible, making the vibe at Beekman both inviting and rife with the potential for adult play. And with the magic of the twinkling lights provided nightly by views of the Brooklyn Bridge, we can safely claim the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club as our new favorite spot to let our hair down. Come see for yourself.
