The mercury dropped below 17 degrees as I was making my way through Times Square. My feet and hands were on the verge of frostbite and I needed to make a pit-stop pronto. That is when I popped into Blossom Du Jour which is well known for its vegan food.
Now, I'm not the tofu type. In fact, I usually go out of my way to avoid it. But I couldn't resist ordering the BLT Caesar made with un-chicken, v-bacon, lettuce, tomato and caesar dressing. This after I was reassured by the nice man behind the counter that I would not be disappointed. To my delight the sandwich was terrific. Would it pass for a real B-L-T? Maybe not. But it was much more un-vegan tasting as I expected.
The soup of the day, a tomato-lentil soup, was also fantastic, very rich and flavorful. There are plenty of other interesting items on Blossom's menu where most of the sandwiches, salads and wraps sell for about 8 bucks.
Blossom, you made me a believer.
