Summer in the city and the weather is getting streamy. You could cool off with a spray from the hydrant, head to your nearest public pool or simply enjoy of scoop of natural, eco-friendly ice cream. You'll find it at Blue Marble, tucked away in a beautifully restored townhouse in Boerum Hill. It truly has the look and feel of an old fashioned ice cream parlor.Blue Marble prides itself on its farm fresh organic ice cream, free trade coffee and hand crafted teas. But in the summer you'll often find people lining up outside the door for one of their truly delicious cones (and not just kids). There are traditional flavors like vanilla and chocolate to more daring ginger, blackberry and mango. You can tell a lot of love goes into the product which is served icy cold (be sure to tip your scooper generously), no gooey mess here. We tried a blueberry/pomegranate combo that was cool and refreshing, and for a moment at least, had us forgetting the sticky mess outside.
The owners of Blue Marble say they want to "spread the love". We hope in some small way, we are doing our part.
