When the weather heats up, chill out with a cool one at the Blue Ribbon Beer Garden. This seasonal retreat looks onto a bustling part of Allen Street from a terrace at Thompson LES. While the building is chic, the beer garden itself is very laid back with a very friendly staff. Something we could all use after a busy day at work.
The menu includes a decent selection of beers from well known brews like Heineken and Sapporo to craft beers like the Evil Twin "Hipster" Pale Ale. Some pricier brews include Ommegang Abbey Ale and Sasion Dupont selling for $23 apiece for 25 ounces. There's also a small selection of wines sold by the carafe.
The food is picnic-style fare. Think BBQ ribs and cornish game hen served with coleslaw, bean salad and corn bread. Or nibble on some snacks. We spotted "numb" chips, pork rinds and smoked almonds on the menu along with chocolate chip cookies.
If you're feeling competitive, try a game of ping pong.
