NYC Restaurants

There's nothing more satisfying than a hot bowl of mac-n-cheese.  And Brooklyn Mac is doing it right from a small storefront in Greenpoint.  The restaurant is turning out a traditional variety as well as some enterprising combinations named after Brooklyn neighborhoods.

There's the Red Hook with bacon and smoked gouda; the Brooklyn Heights with marinated skirt steak and cheddar and the Coney Island complete with hot dogs, sauerkraut and mustard.  The restaurant is also offering vegetarian macs like the Williamsburg with sauteed mushrooms, scallions, tomato and mozzarella, or the Carroll Gardens with caramelized apples and brie.  We went for the Kings County, a more traditional mac and cheese, loaded with cheddar and American cheese. It's a gooey, delicious mess and worth every bite.

The mac-n-cheese comes in three sizes; small, medium and large.  Prices start at $4.75 up to $13.75.  There are vegan and gluten free varieties.  And you can also build your own.
