Canal Street Oysters is a breezy spot to meet for drinks and shellfish in Chinatown. Towering columns, high ceilings and oversized windows give the space an open feel. A large U-shape bar in the center is surrounded by booths and table seating in the main dining area. The raw bar is the big draw here. We counted nearly two dozen varieties of oysters, some caught locally, while others are brought in from New England, West Coast, Vancouver and New Zealand. Other menu items include Diver Scallop Ceviche, Roasted Oysters with garlic and butter, Rock Shrimp Rolls, a Tempura Cod Banh Mi Sandwich, Grilled Bluefish Tacos and more. Seafood towers range from the Dinghy for small groups to the Battleship which includes oysters, littleneck clams, prawns, whelks (a type of sea snail) and Jonah crabs. There is soft serve ice cream is for dessert.
