Restaurateur Ryan Chadwick is at it again. The force behind Grey Lady and Escobar Nightclub is introducing the Canary Club, a cocktail lounge on the Lower East Side which he is operating with his wife, Emily Frantz. The menu of small plates by chef Tadd Johnson (The Smile, The Standard) include Caviar with Voodoo spice chips, Black Sesame Carrots with chili-tahini, smoked paprika and dill, and the most starling dish might just be the Wood Oven-Roasted Squab with head, beak and feet still attached. It’s served with creole butter and romesco sauce. Cocktails arrive via New Orleans with Dali’s Muse, Canary Club’s “holy trinity” martini, and Kush’s Hibiscus made with hibiscus-infused gin. The Canary Club is also serving as a live jazz venue with shows offered twice nightly by well-known and up-and-coming artists. Also on the way, a Supper Club reminiscent of Jazz-age French salons with a "post-modern twist." >>
