If you are looking to satisfy your cravings for meat, go no further than Char Sue on the Lower East Side. At this modern space, with oversized murals, diners are treated to an Asian omakase where grilled meats are the stars. Umeboshi pork sausage finds its way into lettuce wraps. Duck wings get a palm sugar glaze. Happy Hour brings pork tacos with Thai chili salsa. Rice bowls are topped with things like Five Spice Short Ribs and Cha Siu (grilled pork belly and a BBQ soy glaze). There are plates of Fried Chicken with chili-daikon for sharing, along with BLack Pepper Beef Tacos and Steamed Buns filled with roast duck, cha siu and a dry-aged burger. Vegetable dishes and salads are also available. Char Sue is both fun and flavorful.
