Ciao Gloria is the place to be these days in Prospect Heights, whether its sharing a cup of coffee with a pastry by a sunny window, or one of their Italian sandwiches. Renato Poliafito, a former co-owner of Baked in Red Hook, has teamed up with chef Ginger Fisher Baldwin, formerly of Craft, and the result is delicisous, whether its carrot cake with a delightful whipped cream cheese topping to croissants filled with pistachio crema. There are also scones, muffns and cookies. On the savory side look for things like Eggs in Purgatory baked in an arrabbiata sauce and served on focaccia, and a Mortadella Sandwich with ricotta salata. Farro veggy bowls and salads are also available.
