Cititour Review:

I've been spending a lot of time in Crown Heights lately which, of course, translates to me spending  a good amount of time finding good grub in the area. This neighborhood has proven to be a bit more of a challenge than others, however, there are always gems in the rough and there is no exception here. If you are anything of a New Yorker, you take some pride in your vast knowledge of food trucks, particularly for their gyro making abilitites. I now implore you to step outside your food truck mindsets, and allow the one of your best gyro experiences to happen to you right off the Sterling St (2, 5), President St (2, 5) or Nostrand Av (2, 3, 4, 5) stops.

The place is tiny (very tiny). There are two benches that face the glass window and about a three foot gap between those and the counter where you place your order so most people just opt for take-out here. Usually there is only one employee there (and usually it is the same employee every time). Because of this, my gyro maker and I have developed a nice little bond which I find to be very charming, yet, some people find it a little more irritating as when it gets crowded you may need to wait for a bit since the whole thing is typically a one man operation. To me, the fresh food and nice service is worth the wait. One time I made my own hummus at home and dropped in just to pick up a couple of pitas and I was gladly given several warmed up pitas for a couple of bucks.

You can pick your own fixings which include banana peppers, jalapenos, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, lettuce, pickles, and green olives (grape leaves and hummus are $1 extra each but absolutely worth it). You can have as much or as little sauce (hot and white) as you like on your food. It is set up kind of like how a Subway would be in which you order the basic meal you want and then once it is ready you go through what toppings you'd like. The grill is in plain sight so you can watch you food being made every step along the way. They have recently added some new sandwiches to the menu but if you want the best they have to offer, stick withthe basics. Get a gyro (lamb or chicken on rither a pita for $4 or over rice with a salad for $6) or falafel ($4 for a sandwich and $5 over rice with salad) and you will be very pleased.

You get a ton of food for the price and they have always been so pleasant. They are open until 10 Mon - Fri, 9 on Saturdays and 8 on Sundays. All I can can say is that after I had Clubs, I have been consistently let down by ever food truck ever since and have yet to find any street meat that can top them.
