A bit of California sunshine at Coast and Valley, a new wine bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. California transplants Stephanie Watanabe and Eric Hsu learned their craft in the Bay area and are now offering a selection of California wines by the glass (yes, even that $300 bottle). They hope to offer up to 100 bottles in the coming months with at least half priced at under $15 per glass. Coast and Valley is also focusing on new winemakers, women winemakers and those with a social conscience. Dinner brings dishes like housemade ricotta with roasted grapes, tarragon and toasted seeds served with oat crackers. Other offerings include crispy chicken with maitake mushrooms, lentils, frisse with honey-chile sesame oil, as well as, olive oil cake with plum sauce and crème fraîche. For brunch, there are buckwheat pancakes with cardamom butter and maple syrup. All dishes will be carefully curated to enhance the wines.
