Da Toscano is bringing a fresh take on regional Italian cuisine to Greenwich Village. Located in the former Perla space (24 Minetta Lane), Chef Michael Toscano is overseeing the kitchen, while his wife Caitlin, also a veteran of the New York City dining scene, is running the front of the house. The space has a rustic feel wide plank wooden floors, exposed brick, blue beamed ceiling and marble-topped bar. The menu offers a mix of seafood, pasta and comfort foods. Think Roasted Oysters, Marinated Anchovies and Pork Meatballs to start, along with a traditional Caesar with garlic bread crumbs and parmigiana vinaigrette. Minestra Maritata, a snout-to-tail pork & greens soup is another standout with hominy and parmigiana. Pasta abounds with Squid Ink Linguine, Spaghetti with lobster-stuffed ravioli, chili & garlic, and Lasagne served with Sunday gravy. Other offerings include a Porchetta Chop with crispy pork belly, Pan-Roasted Sea Scallops, Charred Cauliflower, and a Dry-Aged Prime Ribeye Pizzaiola with tomato sugo, lunchbox peppers and pecorino. Creative cocktails include the Sunset in Sicily (Cocchi Americano Bianco, Apricot, Grapefruit, Lambrusco) and The Don (Isle of Skye Scotch, Walnut Liqueur, Averna, Bitters & Lemon Peel). An extensive wine list is also available along with Italian beer, ciders and refreshers like housemade limonata and a mock mule with apricot, ginger and lime. >>
