Cititour Review:

Walking into De Robertis is a real blast from the past.  Established in 1904, this Italian pastry shop still maintains that turn-of-the- century feel with its glass counters, tin ceiling, beveled mirrors and tiled floors.  While it could use a bit of sprucing up, it remains a symbol of old New York.

The owners also like to show off their storied past.  Photos above the counter showcase stars and  boxing sensations, including autographed pictures of a young Mike Tyson and Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini.

There really is no better judge of an Italian bakery than the ability to make a proper cannoli, and Di Robertis did not disappoint.  The cannoli shell was fresh with a nice crunch.  It was fille with a sweet ricotta cream and sprinkled with bits bright green pistachios.  It went perfectly with a frothy macchiato served in a clear glass cup.  I also took home a few chocolate mirengue cookies loaded with hazelnuts.  You will also find an assortment of cheesecakes, gelato and tortoni.

Di Robertis is the perfect spot for a break from the daily grind, or dessert after a dinner out.
