Diners who find menus overflowing with options will find Divane to be, shall we say, divine. And so will those who favor first-rate Turkish food.Review By: Brian Scott Lipton
The menu at this charming theater district space consists primarily of 10 grilled meats/kebabs, which can be ordered in combination, and in some cases accompanied with a tomato and yogurt sauce. Chicken was wonderfully juicy, while spicy lamb had a delicious kick. (Other choices include swordfish, sea bass, filet mignon, and doner, a mixture of ground lamb and ground beef.) These overflowing platters – gently priced between $13.50-$17.50 -- are accompanied by fluffy rice, cracked wheat pilaf, homemade pita and a variety of vegetables, including a roasted chile pepper.
Portions are generous enough to make appetizers unnecessary; but for a true taste sensation, start with either the cumin-and-garlic laced hummus or an unusual salsa-like chopped tomato salad, both served with a hot disk of the house's bread.
Desserts are for nuts—I mean nut-lovers: baklava, almond pudding, shredded wheat with pistachios. If nuts are not your thing, a cup of slightly sweet, soothing apple tea makes a fitting finale
