Empire Gyro on the Lower East Side now operates out of a sliver of a location on the corner of First Avenue and Allen Street in what uses to be the Sugar Cafe. The 24-hour spot is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. Breakfast brings assorted omelets, egg sandwiches, and bagels with cream cheese. Gyros (lamb, chicken and mixed grill) are available as sandwiches along with assorted kebabs, falafel and turkish sausage. Soups, salads and burgers are also offered. Desserts include baklava, pistachio pudding and a turkish custard called Kazandibi.
