Chicago’s Fat Rice has taken up residency at Chefs Club in Nolita offering foods inspired by Portuguese trading routes. Award-winning chef Abe Conlon’s menu is a true food adventure. Start with snacks, including briny Portuguese olives with Douro almonds, along with chili toasted peanuts. Shareable plates range from Pork Cheek with charred scallions to Chili Prawns in a vinho verde butter sauce, and arroz de TOMATE with heirloom tomatoes, cilantro, kale and fried garlic. Lacassa, meanwhile, is a perfect blend of stir-fried noodles with shrimp, egg, charsiu and pickled ginger. But don’t drag your feet. When Fat Rice departs on Oct 13th a new chef will sailing in.
