Cititour Review:

Five Leaves offers the quintessential Williamsburg experience, packed with the hippest crowd you’re likely to find on any given day of the week, (and the food is pretty hip, too.)  Opened in 2008 and originally owned by Heath Ledger, this burger/oyster joint is one of the hottest spots in the neighborhood.  It is located conveniently at the northwest corner of McCarren Park (Bedford and Lorimer).

While the servers tend to be a bit pretentious and the servings a bit small, everything on the new-American/ Aussie influenced menu is excellent.  You can get 1/2 dozen oysters for $15 (great when paired with ‘Truffle Fries;’$8) or a simple but delicious salad (try the Roasted Beet & Citrus; $12).  I would highly recommend the Five Leaves Burger, which is garnished with a pineapple ring, pickled beets, a sunny-side up egg and your choice of fries or a salad ($15). The list of specialty drinks and cocktails is extensive, and locals flock to the to-go espresso window for a frothy cappuccino or mocha ($3.25).

There is outdoor seating on the sidewalk and cozy, intimate space on the inside, decorated in a vintage-nautical fashion.  This is a prime spot to meet for a casual late-night dinner date (kitchen is open until 12am) or a drink.  For dessert, don’t miss out on the Rosewater Pavlova ($7) with passion fruit curd and fresh whipped cream.  Take out is available.
