The Lower East Side is now home to a new wine bar and all-day dining destination, Fossetta, located at 198 Allen Street. It is the collaboration of long-time friends Julie Park, Joshua Even, and Chef Charlene Santiago. Together, they also operate Williamsburg’s popular Cafe Colette.

At Fossetta, look for fun, ambitious and delicious flavor-packed dishes like Smashed Eggplant with garlicky tomato confit drizzled with a coriander and tomato oil; a jammy Egg Tonnato served over a caper and anchovy mayo; Roasted Pumpkin with herb butter and pumpkin seed dressing; and Fried Pig Ear with a zingy onion agrodolce.

All of the focaccia is made in-house from a signature sourdough starter. Freshly baked slices arrive topped with things like Ricotta and Hot Honey, or Garlic Cream and Fontina Cheese. There are at least four different styles offered each day.

Pastas are also hand-made like the Bucatini all’Amatriciana with tomato, guanciale, chili and pecorino; Rigatoni & Chicken Livers with marsala cream and sage; and Lasagna Bolognese with fontina, mozzarella and heavily dusted with parmesan.  Mains include Pork Belly Porchetta with sage, fennel and salsa verde; Roasted Half Chicken fired up with pickled peppers and jus; and Fluke Tranche topped with puttanesca.

A daring, yet familiar wine list showcases Italian, French and Spanish wines, while placing an emphasis on natural and biodynamic producers. So, sit back with a nice glass of wine in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy what Fossetta has to offer.
