NYC Restaurants

Gabby Madden, who has overseen such restaurants as Emmets on Grove and Lola Taverna, has opened Gab's in the West Village offering an elevated, New American menu in a fab new space.  Joining Madden is rising star Chef Nate Ashton (former Chef de Cuisine at MIMI) with a menu centered on sustainability and hyper seasonality.

Chef Ashton’s intricate menu includes things like a Uni Tartlet, featuring fresh Maine uni on a bed of preserved aji Amarillo, pumpkin and miso meant to be eaten in one bite; Finocchiona, Gab's version of a charcuterie plate that will change regularly to highlight small producers of artisan charcuterie across the U.S.; Celeriac Dauphinoise prepared with thin slices of celery root and potato, layered with spiced cream; a NY Strip served with Sunchoke, Radicchio and black vinegar jus; and Gab's Burger made with a signature dry-aged burger blend (ground in-house) melted gouda, guajillo catsup, black garlic mustard, served on a housemade crackly sweet potato bun.

The cocktail program features classics with a twist such as Grandma Moses with blended scotch, apple cider, cinnamon and amaro; Miss Moneypenny, a take on the Vesper with London Dry, asparagus infused vodka and Cocchi Americano; and O'Keefe, a margarita-Esque cocktail with tequila Blanco, grapefruit, lime and fennel. 

Stepping into Gab's, you will feel like you are stepping into Gabby's living room with personal touches, artwork and hand-painted murals, as well as a large mosaic at the front door crafted with 20 years of broken plates from her parent's house. With a nod to a '70s sunken living room, including a large orange banquette and teak floors, the intimate 60-seat space feels funky yet refined. >>
