Gem is half neighborhood coffee shop and half dinner party. Run by teen chef Flynn McGarry, the cafe is a place to drop in for morning coffee and homemade pastries, including Semolina Apple Bundt Cake and Blueberry Violet Muffins. By night, guests are invited to a 12-15 course dinner with two seatings Tuesday through Saturday at 6pm and 9pm. The menu includes King Cab with leeks and grapefruit, Pumpkin Char Siu with koji and lime, and Lamb Shank braised with warm spices and apple cider. Dinner costs $155 per person (including tip) and starts with some snacks and champagne in the living room. A wine paring is also available with bottles from France, Germany, Austria and the United States.
