Cititour Review:
If you’re a diehard tea lover, skip the long lines at Wholefoods and Trader Joe’s and opt for a more relaxing “tea purchasing experience” at Harney & Sons SoHo store.   While you can buy many of their blends at the larger grocery store chains in the city, I guarantee the time you spend waiting in line won’t nearly be as pleasurable.

When you first walk into the shop you’ll notice dozens and dozens of tins lining the walls.  My favorite old standby is Earl Grey, but obviously there are so many more interesting blends to choose from.  These include the current seasonal blends like Winter White Earl Grey, Chocolate Mint, and Herbal Hot Cinnamon.  If none of these interest you, then try the free sample of the day.  Or, for a small fee, sit down at the long wooden tasting bar and let the friendly staff here assist you with your purchase.

If you decide you want to eat a little something with your brew, they have a great tea lounge in the back.  Options include:  vanilla scones with Devonshire cream and jam, ham and gruyere scones, or cheddar and chive.   You can also nibble on a variety of cheeses and house roasted cashews, peanuts, or macadamia nuts.  Harney & Sons is a great place to stop if you’re downtown, want a quick break and a hot cup of tea.
