Sometimes simplicity works. Intermezzo, with its table whites, vases filled with lemons and bright floral prints, provides a welcome dining experience in the heart of Chelsea. The food also delivers. A large selection of antipasti draws you in from the "Mozzarella Saporita," mozzarella rolled with prosciutto and served with braised radicchio, to the "Carpaccio ai Carciofini" made with baby artichokes and parmesan. The pasta dishes are also first rate. Try the "Penne Puttanesca," with tomato, capers, black olives and anchovies. Chicken and Veal dominate the entrees. The "Viello Europeo," a veal marsala with mushrooms, prosciutto and fontina cheese is also very good. Dinner for two will run you about $70. Friendly service. Major credit cards. They also offer an inexpensive Sunday brunch till 4pm.
