Japan Village is now open at Industry City. Bright orange carp adorn the front of this sprawling 20,000 square foot food hall and Japanese market. The project is the brainchild of Tony Yashida and his son, Takiuya, who operate Sunrise Markets. Japan Village features about a dozen food stands while the Japanese grocery includes a meat market selling Kobe beef for $130 a pound. Diners can choose from an assortment of noodle dishes, katsu curry (with fried pork or chicken), Japanese pancakes called okonomiyaki (made with seafood or pork) and unigiri (rice balls) with assorted fillings. It is being called the Japanese version of Eataly and is already a Brooklyn destination. Japan Village is located between 35th and 36th Street on Third Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. See more
