Homestyle Southern Indian cuisine is the idea behind Khiladi, a new 60-seat restaurant in the East Village (175 Avenue B) inspired by street market staples. Look for dishes like Idly Nuggets, steamed lentil cakes spiced with cumin, coriander and curry leaves; Pachi Dip Trio, eggplant, tomato and ridge gourd, served with naan chips; and classic Indian dishes like Chicken Tikka, Tiger Prawns and Veggie Tandoor, Sag Paneer and Tikka Masala. The restaurant with vibrant purple velvet banquettes and a wall of succulent plants, also features a projector displaying South Indian movies from the 70's and 80's.
