There's Peruvian food. And there's Chinese food. Then there's Peruvian Chinese. Red Egg tried it and failed. Flor De Mayo succeeded and is one of the best in the city, but it's way uptown. The restaurant is offering traditional Peruvian dishes like Lomo Saltada ($6.95), a beef stir fry, and a fried seafood dish called Jalea ($8.50). There's also Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken served with a green chili sauce. You'll also find Chinese plates with a Peruvian flare. Barbecued ribs ($6.95) coated with a tasty dry rub were meaty and perfectly prepared. Thin slices of pork arrived with chucks of pineapple in a sweet and sour sauce ($6.95). And the chicken in the Tallarin Saltado (Lo Mein) had a nice smoky flavor ($6.25). Neighborhood: Sunset Park Hours: Tues-Sun 11:30am-9pm Closed Mondays Entree Price: <$10 Takeout:Yes Leave a Comment |
