Sometimes you don't have a busy menu to find your place in New York's heart. Le Frite Kot knows this well. It's managed to survive these tough economic times with its Belgian frites. The fries are a real treat and quite a buy in these recessionary times. A small portion, served in a paper cone, goes for $2.50 and is quite filling. Larger sizes are also available for $3.50 and $4.50. The fries are served with ketchup or mayo, as well as an assortment of specialty sauces which cost a bit extra. If you go through another door to your right and walk to the rear you'll find a dimly lit bar where the fries are served alongside Belgian-style mussels. You'll also find great Belgian beers like Stella Artois and DeKoninck on tap. Le Frite Kot is definitely worth a try while in Greenwich Village. You can also find Belgian Frites at Pomme Frites at 724 Seventh Avenue at 48th Street and B-Frites at 1657 Broadway near 51st Street.
