Details: Chef Jonathan Benno (pictured) and his team are turning their attention to "old New York" at their new Italian spot, Leonelli Taberna, at The Evelyn Hotel in NoMad. Benno, formerly of Per Se and Lincoln Ristorante, is introducing diners to a Roman-inspired trattoria. He's also paying homage to the family-run bake shops of Rome with Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, a bakery and café to follow. Leonelli's dinner menu dives deep into Italian cuisine with dishes like Suppli (Spaghetti alla Carbonara Croquette), Gnocchi (Braised Oxtail Vaccinara) and Bistecca alla Fiorentina (a 30-Day Dry Aged T-Bone with Rosemary & Balsamico Aceto for two). Desserts by pastry chef Lindsey Bittner, of Gramercy Tavern and Le Bernardin, include Tartuffo with hazelnut gelato, cherry sorbetto & Visciole, as well as Torta Di Limone with lemon curd, pine nuts and strawberry sorbetto. The restaurant, designed by Parts and Labor Design, draws its influence from The Evelyn's art deco architecture and the hotel's close proximity to the historic Tin Pan Alley.
