After returning from China's Yunnan Province, Chef Simon Tong brought the unique flavors of the region to New York's East Village. The dishes are built on rice noodles, called mixian, with broth, meats, seasonal ingredients and spices.

UPDATE: Little Tong is launching a new menu that focuses more on local ingredients and modern techniques. There's also a greater emphasis on shared plates. Highlights include Macao Night Market Clams with Canto sausage, enoki, zucchini, and mala douban (fermented chili-bean sauce); Tieban Miyazaki A5 Wagyu with Yunnan salsa verde, alderwood sabayon and crispy herbs; and Tea-Smoked Duck Breast with XO fried rice, salted duck yolk and apricot sauce. As part of its evolution, the restaurant is also dropping "noodle shop" from its name. A handful of mixian dishes will remain, including Grandma's Chicken.
