Coffee bars are everywhere. Now matcha bars are starting to catch up. In SoHo, operating from a small window is Matchabar by brothers Max and Graham Fortgang. If you’re not yet familiar with it, you should be. The bright green drinks, made from powdered green tea, is finding its way into all sorts of drinks. At Matchabar it is presented as an alternative to coffee with added health benefits from a high level of antioxidents. It’s found in everything from matcha lattes and cappuccinos to The Green Eye, a matcha latte with with a shot of espresso. For dessert, look for things like matcha brownies and even a Matcha Whoopi Pie.
