Cititour Review:
The Mexican Sandwich Company in Park Slope, Brooklyn is cooking up some fine quesadillas. It was started by Chris Santos and Peter Kane, the former owners of Chinatown's Wyanoka.

The place is small, squeezing in about 25 people at most, with mix and match seating.. and watch that first step.. it's a doozie.

There are 11 quesadillas to choose from, including an Open Face Pizza made with fresh mozzarella, vine ripe tomato and fresh basil. You can also mix and match dozens of combinations including four different types of tortillas.

We tried the Three Cheese BLT made with cheddar, monterey jack, mozzarella, tomato and double smoked bacon. Outrageous! The charred hanger steak with monterey jack was also quite good.

You'll also find some interesting combos like barbequed duck confit made with cheddar and green onion, topped with a spiced mango salsa and a blood-orange-chile drizzle. Or a quesadilla made with wild plum, brie and lavender-chile honey. Also, on the menu, Crispy Red Snapper tacos.

The Mexican Sandwich Company is a welcome edition to the growing number of gourmet treats now gracing Fifth Avenue.

Prices are reasonable ranging $5-$9 for a six inch quesadilla and up to $13 for a 12-incher.

Enjoy!
