Mr Taka Ramen is one of those spots that appears to have a perpetual line. Located at 170 Allen Street on the Lower East Side, the restaurant offers counter service surrounding an open kitchen along with some table seating. Started by two college buddies who reunited after school, Mr Takata offers traditional snacks and appetizers, like pork belly and fried chicken karaage buns as well as pan-fried dumplings and crispy brussel sprouts. There are six types of ramen on the menu, including Spicy Tokotsu with pork belly & fried garlic, Spicy Miso with chicken & bonito fish broth, and Spicy Taka's Vegan with vegetable broth & soy milk. Add-ons like soft-boiled egg, fried tofu, ground pork and black mushrooms can also be purchased. If you are not into spicy, the kitchen will prepare milder versions. Friendly service.
