Cititour Review:

Mudspot Café and Restaurant with Garden is a hip little East Village café where breakfast is the star morning, noon, and night.  They also offer their own coffees and serve brunch daily until 4pm for $14.95.  It’s the kind of place where you’d feel comfortable reading a book, studying for an exam, or hanging out on your laptop for a while.  On the flip side, if you’re in a hurry and need a quick cup of Joe, the front counter faces out onto the street so you can grab your caffeine fix from the sidewalk and be on your way.  I wouldn’t say it’s the Anti-Starbucks, but it’s definitely got a local and authentic vibe to it.

Two egg omelettes start at $8.95 and can include a variety of veggies, cheeses, sausages, and toppings with a typical side of home fries, salad or rice and beans.  Some of the brunch items include Huevos Rancheros, Sour Dough French Toast, and a Mudman Pressed Sandwich with blackened chicken, roasted red peppers, arugula, and an asiago garlic mayo.  A cup of mud is thrown in along with your choice of freshly squeezed orange juice, mimosa, champagne, or beer on tap.  For those that limit breakfast to before 11am there’s also a good selection of appetizers, pressed sandwiches, soups and salads.

If you’re looking for a great local hangout to enjoy your morning coffee or a neighborhood café to bring your out-of-town friends for breakfast after a night out in the city, Mudspot is the place.
