Cititour Review:

When I'm looking to shock my palate I often head to the nearest Jamaican restaurant. In this case it was Negril, a delightful restaurant in Chelsea where the wooden floors, exposed ceiling beams and Jamaican scenes on the wall make you feel like you're in the Caribbean. The tropical coolers also help. Now for the shocking part - the food. The escoveitch is delicious. Fried fish or chicken smothered in Jamaican spices and served with roasted yams or bammie, fried wedges of mashed yucca. The blandness of the yucca helps offset those powerful spices, as did the wedges of fresh avacado served with the roasted pork in a spicy jerk sauce. All the food was great, as was the service. Our hostess, Tameka, couldn't have been nicer. For dessert there's Mom's bread pudding and sweet potato pie.
